We decided that this year my wife and I would buy some solar lamps for outside.  I have always been interested in using the power of the sun to create electricity so I thought this might be a way to start small. I was surprised at how well they worked.  They got me thinking about what else I could do to start living off the grid.  I talked to a friend of mine who has a wind turbine that he uses to generate enough power to run some small appliances.  He was convinced that turbines were the way to go for this area.  I decided to try one myself so bought the same setup that he currently has.  I haven’t installed it yet but I am quite excited to see how it will work for me.
